Defoe Defends England's Honour

After a boisterous opening quarter, England's men in red at last put some buzz back into the English game by scrambling the ball past an out of sorts Slovenian goalie.

It was an altogether different team that put in a performance that brought the team back to a more satisfactory result which, let's face it, only got us through by the skin of our teeth after a dismal opening couple of games.

Next up is Germany, the nemesis of English football, a team that, optimistically from Capello's point of view, has lost one game so far.

England, alongside Uruguay and the USA, haven't conceded a match yet, but there's no use in a draw in the last 16.

It's now about winning. And winning against Germany will be the sweetest ambition of all.
